Hello, this is my first post here so I'm hoping I can get some help. I was installing windows on someones computer, ran into some small problems.. When I had to reset cmos I didnt know that they had mismatched ram. So I have to change the settings in the bios before I add the second stick and so far I'm not really sure what I should do.

Stick 1: 256mb pc2100 Samsung ( since thats the only ram that will run by its self in the computer the timings showed 2.5-3-3-6

Stick 2: 256mb pc2700 Nanya (Dont know timings)

In the bios there isnt a "Auto" option like there is on mine for mismatched :( theres two things..

Ones for the frequency its ran at its options are "SPD, 100, 133, 166, 200" Then the timings options are "SPD, MANUAL" Well I guessed to put the frequency at 133, but I'm not sure what all of the manual timings to put.

In the Bios these are what I can choose from in the manual timings selection.

CAS "2/2.5/3/1.5"
Trp "2/3"
Trcd "2/3"
Tras "6/7"

For the second stick of ram this is the info on the stick

Nanya 256mb pc2600

NT5DS16M8AT-7K
1330DBPT

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

spd=133

CAS=2.5
TRP=3
TRCD=3
TRAS=6

now if that does not boot try CAS=3 and TRAS=7.

Aww nothing, it'll just beep in long beeps as long as I keep it on. No certain amount of beeps. Any other ideas.

Edit** Also theres a bank interleave option, gives me
"Disabled, 2 bank, 4 bank..."

did you try the looser timings? Also which slots is the ram in and what do you have the bank interleave on now? And WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

Thanks for the welcome, the bank interleave was at default disabled when timings were turned to manual. So since, I didnt mess with it because I didnt know what it is. Theres three slots on this board, their in the first and second slot like they were when I received the tower to format it. I've got no idea about looser settings and memory timings, why I came here :P lol. Thanks for the time to help.

pull the cmos batter (its the only one on the mobo) and then try again. Then set it to 3-3-3-7 and if that won't run pull out one stick and see if it will run if no then you have the problem if yes then try the other.

At 3-3-3-7 neither chips ran. I just put it back to 2.5-3-3-7 after clearing cmos and its running fine so far. About to run memtest86 and see what it says. Is there something else I could run for better results..? I've never ran memtest just heard about it. I think the errors were coming from before because norton had screwed up so I formatted again. Since new format I think everything is cool.

Thanks for the help.
