I have a little problem with Acpi CPU cooling under win2000 and Win98SE on my TB running @1.4 not overclocked.

ACPI system buttons and Acpi bios where shown as installed under my System configs in Win2k and Win98, but no acpi cooling is running on my cpu......the temps in both winīs are at 50 degrees - to hot i think.....under full load the temp goes a little higher to the max of 58 degrees.

i have also tryed programms like rain and so on - no change on Win-Tempratures.

CPU runs on an Abit KT7-A v1.2 with latest bios from AbitWebsite - in Bois the acpi controll by APM is enabled...

Corevoltage is default on 1.75 V

Iīm using an GLobal Win Fop 32 1 ......this canīt be the problem....

Sisoft sandra reports no ACPI soppurt for CPU !!!!

can this be true?
TB CODE: EYHJA 01 28 MPM

are there other people out there with the same problem?

actually there's your problem, lol :D

get a better heatsink

that thing cant take all the heat from the t-bird
maybe just barely enough for not overclocking but with overclocking don't even think about it, it's not really even enough for my duron so i doubt it will be enough for a t-bird

ACPI isn't really a support feature of CPUs...its more the support of the mobo. It just lets you send the HLT signal to the processor when there isn't anything to do...so it stops working.

I'm with sky on this one...it's your heatsink. That sucker just isn't good enough for these really hot processors.
