My buddies pc crashes(freezes) while playing guild wars on his PC. I just put in a 9800xt, and it doesn't crash during other games.. cs:s, farcry, etc. His temps are O.K., voltages fine, and he sometimes will be playing for a couple of hours before it freezes, so I'm thinking maybe an issue with Guild wars and the drivers...He's using Omega's 5.6s.

Latest ATI drivers would be the first step. If you allready have then, I would uninstall the cards drivers, restart and reinstall anew.

Hes tried lastest ATI and Omegas. I had him uninstall nvidia platform drivers and update them as well (nforce 2 chipset). It seems not to be a driver issue, we found a ton of reports on google of the same thing, and noone can figure out a solution.

I had a similar problem with the Cat 5.6's. I ended up rolling back to Cat 4.11 and that seemed to fix it. I've recently dumped GW for WoW again... so that's been taking up the majority of my time. Haven't had the time to really test it over long periods of gameplay, but a quick mission run with an ascended E/Me through one of the low Ascalon missions proved successful. I'd normally get a lockup after about 30-45 min of gameplay. Try the Cat 4.11's.

There's a thread here (http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25592) about this very issue.

It's only happening with guild wars though...was that the same for you?

If it's only in one game, wouldn't that be game specific, and not a driver issue? Or am I wrong..
