OK.. i posted the thread on why i cant overclock my Duron 750.. and i think i can pull of o/cing it to 900 BUT i just moved to arizona to goto college and so i have no money to upgrade my comp.. so i was wondering if anyone had any tips on improving my system performance.. i just got it about 2 months ago.. its a:
Duron 750
some motherboard with a SiS chipset
On board video
On board sound
On board NIC
20 GB Maxxtor 7200rpm H.D
256mb pc-100 ram
Windows XP professional
Now i cant spend anything over like $30 so i wanna no what else i can do to improve it, and please dont say stuff like "get more ram" or "buy a geforce3" becuase i cant .. the only money im spending on it is to get broadband

you can get more ram for <$30 at www.crucial.com/evguide
other than that there's not much $30 can buy... (maybe a better hsf for higher speeds?)
Actually, the best way to spend that $30 as far as overclocking goes, is on beer for someone local who would get a kick out of hanging out and working on your rigs together.
At this point knowledge is your friend. You can't buy knowledge, and you can't really buy friends. But if you get together with other people on campus who are into that sort of thing, you can learn a lot. Find out where the geeks hang out down there.

actually i just bought a good hs/f and some arctic silver thermal paste to keep my temps down.. my mobo only supports 900 for duron i think so 900 is the best im gonna get for now.. i know a lot of people who know a lot about computers but they are lazy and dont wanna come buy to help (im part of the geeks in school) :)
see, that's what the $30 bucks is for. Buy enough snacks to lure them over.
