Take a look here (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Description=&MinPrice=&MaxPrice=&OEMMark=-1&Manufactory=1984&Manufactory=1305&Manufactory=1306&PropertyCodeValue=0&PropertyCodeValue=354%3A7760&PropertyCodeValue=354%3A7759&PropertyCodeValue=355%3A7776&PropertyCodeValue=359%3A7788&PropertyCodeValue=359%3A7789&PropertyCodeValue=0&Submit=Property&SubCategory=14). You can get a 40 gig or a 80 gig drive for about the same price.
Hope that helps! :)
EDIT: Didn't notice at first that you are from England... Newegg won't ship to England, but that list should give you a head start on what to look for. Sorry about that :(
BTW: Seagates, Hitachi, and WD are all good in my books!

Take a look at some of the Hitachis. I have to say that they're too quiet. In fact, when I got my 160GB Hitachi and installed it in an enclosure, I thought that it was dead! It works, though, and I guess that is what matters.

newegg is supposed to start shipping in the UK :D
are you sure it is our HD only? not fans? PSU ? etc?
perhaps buy some foam insulation for your case?
My Seagates are wonderfully quiet...even the old, used & abused 8.4gb Seagate!

My one clicks, whines even makes small exploding noices, slight hint for an update there. Right ill check them out, thanks for the replys. The computer is very..erm..crap and so it only has a very weedy fan for the cpu and for the psu.
That drive is going to die so grab all of your stuff on it while you can.

Btw that brings me onto another question, it has windows 95 on it. Now i brought a legal version of XP and im using it on this comp so can i install it on the old computer, or is there something that stops it being installed on two comps?

I believe you would have to purshase another licence. Why in the worls would you put Windows XP on it though? It is an old PC so it would run very poorly. You are also turning it into a server so Linux is obviously the best choice. Just put Debian on that thing.

just another note, i have both a hitachi and a seagate drive and both of them are completely inaudible, even when i unplug all of my case fans :)

XP is only alalowed to be installed on one computer / CPU.

I have never used linux so it might be a problem though.

It's not hard. There are even some distros that are easier to install then Windows. This may help.

I used it as my first linux Distro and it is great for a beginner as it is extremely easy to use.

awesome, thanks
What are you going to be running on the server? I recommend spending the time and doing Gentoo. I made a step-by-step tutorial on how to do it, if you are interested PM Me. It's a little easier to understand than the one stickied in the linux forums. Although that took me most of the way, but at some parts its a little confusing.

Today i was driving past a computer fair and i desided to stop by since i hadnt seen one before. I picked up two awesome things, one is a 120mm fan (v.powerful) and the second is an unopened, unused linux redhat package including "utilities" and "bonus" cd's. He never registered this so i can use the customer support service too.
I have a question, how should i go about installing it since i have Windows 95 on there atm.

No, you can do it through the installation. I don't know if Redhats installation is the same as Fedora, but if it is then it is extremely easy.

Awesome, thank you ill do it now.
Side note: It only has 350mz of CPU and 128 SD RAM. Is this enough to act as a serve, run redhat and also play music?

it should be fine, as long as the server isnt having HUGE amounts of traffic, like more than your connection could handle. music houldnt be a problem, miht have to run sndcfg from a console (i think thats the command, might be sndconfig) to get the sound set up right. what verion of redhat is it?
