View Full Version : Delta 38 mod
do you pull the red and black wires out, leave the blue and connect the red and black to the psu power connector? I will be using a 3-4 pin adapter. cut the wires and solder them together. is that right?

Those are the right colors...but you don't have to do any soldering. You should just be able to shove the three pin wires into the holes in the molex pins. That's how I did it, at least. :)
sounds pretty interesting ;)
I may do it too....
So i just taking the read and black cables from teh original female 3 pin connector and putt them into the PS Molex connector?
Do you guys put the Red in the 12 or 5 volts line of hte PS connector?
am i even right? from what i understood ;)

Depends. If you want full speed, the red goes into the yellow (12V) if you want medium speed you put the red in the yellow and the black in the red (7V mod) or if you want low speed you put the red in the red (5V).

use 7V it quiet and it cools.
These mods are supposed to annoy the PSU a little, I haven't had any problem with my PS since I modded it so maybe if anyone has any info about the 7V mod stressing the PSU??
Oh ok i get it ;)
I'll be doing this to my the fans on my alphas6035, Thanks for the info... i've heard of the 7v mod but didnt know what it was all about, but that explains it all at pretty simple too :)
Is everyone seeing increases in CPU temps after this mod? If so, how much of an increase?
Having a Glaciator I don't have the delta 7000 fan but this mod is interesting and might not impact temps too much for an efficient heatsink like the Glaciator. I might just give it a try a 7v. I can wire it to a molex connector at first to avoid cutting the wires. Too bad I'll lose the fan rpm reading that way. It would be interesting to know how much the rpms drop from 12v to 7v.

Hey Len do we have the same name?? my full name is Leonard!
I saw an increase of about 3C after I did the mod and its still at 45C full load so I'm not worrying :)
I reduced my Glaciator fan from 12v to 7v. It got much quieter but CPU temps went up from 3 to 5C depending on the case temp. The lower the case temp the less the increase when using 7v for some reason. With the Glaciator at 7v and all 6 of my case fans (including the PSU) at 7v I can actually hear the hard drive again! Unfortunately I don't think I can keep the Glaciator at 7v. CPU temps get too high now.
