I just installed windows and whenever I turn the computer on it asks for the boot disk and wont boot without the winxp disk. I thought this was because I had the cdrom first on boot priority so I changed it so the HD with windows on it would boot first but it is still asking for the disk.

The hard drive with windows should be hd0 unless you have it on a sata disk, then it would be scsi.Make sure the drive is on the correct ide cable end and jumpered correctly.
System spec would be helpfull.
