Hello OC!!! My M5305 Laptop is getting some really odd readings from Speed Fan's temperature detection... Is there any programs that I can use to find the actual temps for an Arima W720K7 Motherboard. If you don't know the problem with E-machines M-series laptops, they can friggen burn your lap off if you're not too careful. I'm getting readouts of 94C for the cpu... Hopefully that's not right. If you have any tips to fix the overheating problem can you also please help me out. Thank you very much in advance.

so in general:
Looking for correct temp readout, looking for cooling tips for the M5305. Thanks again.

you could try motherboard monitor... I have no clue what laptops are compatable with the program but you could try it. In your bios you might have a temp reading in there.

umm well you could get a cooling pad for the thing. Most cooling pads you can buy suck (I MEAN THAT LITERALLY AND FIGURIATIVELLY) most of em are low performance models that suck old air away instead of blowing fresh air into it. If you get a cooling pad that blows instead of sucks then there will be more air pressure under your laptop and more air pressure = slightly better heat transfer from the bottom. I built my own cooling pad that uses a tornado :D.

I use Mobilemeter, available for Download ( http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Oakland/8259/) I have a 5309 and know what you mean about hot, but it's a great laptop and has been trouble free:)

Hm, I used to have two eMachines laptops. I don't believe I ever got any monitoring software to work correctly though.

has anyone had problems with the cooling on this system? the E machines m5305? Can anyone help me resolve the problem? I think the cpu overheats but I don't know anything about the laptop formfactor to understand where all the heat is coming from... and why it's not cooling as it should during a full processing event.

you hear any fans running on the inside? is any air being exhaused?

yes... the fans are running like they're about to lift off... but that's right before the system shuts down due to overheating. I have an external "cooling" fan that's supposed to help... but it really doesn't.

Here is what your Looking ( http://dexplor.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=171&highlight=5305+overheat) for, this is a major issue with them, I have a 5309 and haven't had any trouble so far, but I removed my Hsf
and removed the Tim and replaced it with AS ceramique and it runs well:)
hope this helps you.

is there a manual on how to take apart the laptop?

It's really not hard to take apart, follow the link I provided, turn it upside down and you will see the screws that hold on that plastic piece that is around the butons, use a credit card to pry off the plastic piece once the screws are removed, you will see 3 screws holding the keyboard on, remove those and tilt the keyboard( be careful of the ribbon cable) you will then see the Hsf and follow the steps to clean it out.
