Hahah sounds pretty ghetto to me. Gonna be loud but I bet it moves alot of air. Even if it was DC it would prolly suck alot of power so its probably a good thing its AC.

they're AC, and noisy. if you could get one of a high enough rating, you could probably use a light dimmer for a speed controller. they are noisy, but sometimes have a filter on it. a quick at lowes.com shows that they arent all that much air flow, 130 cfm is the biggest ive seen.

if they aren't pushing much more then 100cfm you might as well get a high output 120 or maybe 150mm if you can find one. those ceiling fans are not designed to be on the side of a computer (obviously). you may run into problems with vibrations shaking components loose, worst thing that will happen is you'll have a big useless hole in your case, sounds like an excuse to intall a window if you ask me. good luck with that anyways.

We have this box fan thing.. well its more or less round. 2ft diamater that thing is insanely high cfm, its over 2000, I know that much. It would vent a level 5 bio hazard in 2 minuts LOL!!!!

level five in 2 minutes? not quite, but that is some crazy airflow, although i think it has been established that using insane airflow (over 1000cfm) is not going to change the temps in a well ventilated case. i had to watch a biohazard video for my job btw.
