The "Grand Canyon" sized gap in the L1 bridges need more attention than I thought. It is much harder. Take it from somebody who just spent more money in 1 day that I wanted to. XP number two will be up and running tomorrow. Damn I must be crazy!!

Maybe we shoud take caution and get a can oif body filler, for cars, i hear the TRENCH is huge, but he had it at over 1800 before he killed it, thats from a 1530(1800) chip, and just imagine how bad that spanks INtel chips LOL

Like Jason said, I am putting a non-conductive filler in next time then I am using tape. Jason and I think alike, this was an idea I had after it was toast, My fault totaly!!

What is a good putty type filler that is not prone to heat?

What's your best price where you live?

Not for an XP but for RAM & whatever I can't find here. It's either APACER or PQI here all CAS3. If you do international it'll be great also if your shop will accept credit cards.

Well after shipping it would not be such a deal, we get out quality ram from Crucial.

I cannot even get a refund, it has dried conductive paint on it. This is a much different chip as the L1 bridges are concerned. My only advice I can give from this experiance is to take your time on the bridges!!!!!

They won't accept credit cards from my area & with the added cost of a bank transaction for just a few sticks... oh well that's life:(

I cannot remember for the life of me the name brand - but it is sold at Auto Parts stores. its like liquid concrete for a muffler hole. Comes with a small bit of screen and the filler which harded like concrete and is VERY prone to heat over 500 degrees. I mean i stays on your muffler which is hotter than any cpu. It is a liquid paste and out of tube it dries in a few hours and is HARD AS A ROCK.

Ask at a local auto parts store for some muffler hole filler - they will know ecactly what it is. i think there is only 1 brand out there.

And its not JB Weld - but I KNOW it will do the job

$235 for an athelon 1400. Pretty insane!

The owners don't seem to understand that there are other companies selling these proc over the internet for $90+ less.

Damn that's bad news. sorry to here about it.

Did you try removing the conductive paint?

I made a mistake with defogger on my tbird L1s and it was cleaned up with rubbing alcohol.

Tracebear you might not be totally hosed! I could soak teh chip in acetone adn see if the conductive ink would come off! It shouldn't hurt it and I don't see a problem with trying to save it and worst case is you could try in return it after it gets clean! btw were the L1's under new plastic package?

Yikes...ye mighty trancebear fries his XP in a few days? I get the feeling mine would be before I even got it to post...I think I'm just going to get an 1800 as soon as the price drops below $200, then install it, triple check everything, be extra careful, and not even overclock until there's a safer way...woe is me!! :(

Yecch! At least it will be alot easier to drill through the organic base than it would be with a T-Birds ceramic one.;)

the first people w/ XP's sanded the contacts down and then painted them. It sounds safer, imho.

we have stuff like that called "gun-gum". thick black stuff. zat what you were thinking of?

tb, i'd go for epoxy of some sort. put a tiny bit in a toothpick, and smooth it into the crevasse ;) with a licked finger.

LOL, If you had my collection of dead Birds, this would be easier to understand!

Why not cover the traces with tape and fill the trough with nail polish? A conductive pen would make quick work of unlocking the chip.

I am proud of my keychain, it is my first and I will keep it with pride. I am gonna try to clean it off first, but highly unlikely.

yeah I had a L6 adn L7 short with the conductive pen and cleaning it off made the chip work again so you have a little bit of hope at least a 25% chance. I would use lots of acetone if I were u.

Trance I was just about to start on mine, but now I've decided to wait, please let me know how you are going to do it, and if you know of anyone that has taken pics of doing it, please let me know that as well. I've never used the stuff, and I want to do it right.
Sorry to hear about your loss, how high did you get it before it was gone?

Killem, your smart. I know if I had one, I would definitely hold off until there is a foolproof way to unlock it! Trance, How's it coming with the first chip and second?
