View Full Version : DOH! Maze4 6600gt -> 6800gt

I've had a maze4 gpu block on my 6600gt for a while...but I've gotten a 6800gt from a friend for cheap, so I figured I could mount the maze4 block to the 6800gt (considering the 6800 series is what the block was really meant for)

The problem is that my mounting hardware doesn't fit the holes! (the threads)

I'm about to email DangerDen and ask what I can do - I'm sure I'll have to order a new hardware set, which is actually fine with me ordinarily, but I have a LAN party on Saturday and wanted to have all this done by then :(

So I thought I'd post here and ask if any of you know what I can do to mount my block to my new card.

Thanks for any response.

go to ace/what ever hardware store you have close by and get some screws that will screw into the holes of the water block. Then get some rubber/nylon washers and nuts. cut the head off of the screws use the springs that you have now for the water block and you have mounting hardware.

I worded that wrong...what I meant to say is that the holes don't match up. Now that I've looked at the block and thought about it...it would probably take a new top to make it fit.

Got an email back from Dangerden...it is a new set of mounting hardware...so I guess I'll run down to my local ace hardware (selection beats the hell out of Home Depot) and try before I spend $8 + shipping from dangerden.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to find anything that size...I've been there before looking for something similar and couldn't find anything even close ... may as well try though.

Thanks.

it's very tough finding rods that size, let alone washers and nuts. take your maze4 top down to the hardware store and see what will fit in the 6800 series holes.

Yeah I already tried...even decided to waste the gas and drive across town to Home Depot after Ace Hardware...neither have anything close...and I've been in that boat before. I've gone ahead and ordered a new hardware kit from DD....guess I'll just have to run my video card on air cooling for the LAN party. *sigh* :p

No...not really. between the extra 128mb of RAM, AND the 256bit memory interface overclocking my 6600gt will not get it to 6800gt levels...especially when I can overclock it.
