I want to disable "write verify" for my harddrive, only can do it in command promt, how can I boot in command promt with win2000? I tried the one f8, command promt in safe mode, couldn't do it..any idea?

Have you tried a DOS boot disk? I know MS got rid of DOS in one of their new OSs, and the only way to get real DOS is to use a DOS boot disk. If you have 98, you should be able to make a disk.

what brand is your HDD? In my case I did it with IBM's utility ( Feature tool ) it creates a PCDOS disk to got DOS mode... and enables you to enable/disable features of your HDD... check your HDD manufacturers site if they have the same utility....

This is wrong it is nothing more than DOS emulation, it is not true DOS and as such not all commands work on it

I couldnt' find one for win2000 at bootdisk.com and the brand is Maxtor and i couldn't find anything there. maybe i should email them and ask how..

just make a w98 boot disk and set the floppy to boot first that will get you to doss
