im planning on replacing both of my hard drives ( 80gb and 40gb ide ) with a 160gb sata drive sometime in the near future. Heres my concern: Since i play games, download files, and play songs from my hard drives at the same time very often i was wondering if this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148034) drive is up to the task.

currently, my 40gig holds all of my media while the 80gig holds the o.s. and everything else and i always believed i would suffer a performance loss if i tried to cram all of that into one drive because of all the multitasking it has to suffer through. is that right? or will i be perfectly fine with dumping everything into the single 160gb drive? thanks

Why dont you keep the 40 and the 80gb drives?

Personally i would have the OS on the 40GB drive and use the 80GB and 160GB (When you get it) for storage, that way if anything goes wrong (Virus or something) you could have all you important stuff on the other drives and you wouldnt lose much.

I agree. Because of the ability to devide the work when you have two hard drives you will loose a little performance if you go to one. Since you already have a couple, no sense tossing them aside.

well my drives only have 2mb of cache and i have a very bad feeling that one of my 2 drives are about to say bye-bye. maybe im just paranoid lol :p

dont worry though, i was already going to reuse my working hard drives until their platters fall off lol. im just trying to plan for a worst-case-scenario where everything goes wrong
