Which Mushkin Redline is right for my 3500 Winnie/3000 Venice?

Guys,

I'm looking to get some temporary RAM while I RMA my G.skill LC 1gb kit and was looking at the raves of Mushkin Redline. I have the DFI Ultra-D board to give it the volts it needs, but not sure if the RAM will give me the clocks I want to reach good speeds with my processors.

I have a 3500 Winnie that walls at 2610 (290x9) stable with TCCD G.skill LC 2x512.

Based on my maximum clocks and higher multiplier with the 3500 Winnie (11x) what would be the best Mushkin Redline to get? I get about 7800MB/s at 9x290 with my Winnie. Could I get similar bandwidth using Redlines @ 2-2-2 and the 11x multi on the winnie?

I see most sets reach around 250 (??)
250x11 = 2750 which is above my chip's limit.
240x11 is about the limit on the Winnie (<2640).
If I use the 10x multi I would need RAM that does ~260 for 261x10 = ~2610.

Would it be smarter to go for XP4000 to attempt to do 260 or get something rated lower and use the power of my multiplier to get a higher clock?

I do have my XP120 that overhangs my RAM with a Delta 120 High-Speed :) so the RAM could be kept fairly cool.

My HP3200 runs at 250mhz all day long 9x306. I can run 260mhz with higher volts.

I would suggest that you get XP4000 so you can do 290x9 with 9/10 divider, which will give you little less if not the same bandwith then what you are getting now but it should be close. Also you will see a jump in your 3DMarks since you will be running a low RAS to CAS and 3DMarks love that stuff on lowest possible setting.

I have a 3000 Venice also that in preliminary testing with my semi-broken LC set (using only 1 of the 2 sticks) can do 9x285 stable at about 1.584 volts. Would I be better off using my 3500 Winnie or 3000 Venice? Venice would really rely on how well the RAM can clock huh?

I would strongly recomend that you use Venice since they have much better memory controllers then Winnies and you don't need to run 1:1 always, dividers work just as well.

I'd suggest whichever Redlines fit your budget. I have the cheapest ones (PC-3200) and mine will bench at 265 1.5-2-2-5 with 3.5v. I can run them at 257 off the 3.3v rail with the J17mod 24/7. These Redlines are definately in the top 3 for UTT memory.

Budget isn't really an issue. I am fine dropping $200 for XP4000's. I would love to take a gamble and go for the 3200-rated chips at about $50 cheaper, but what are the odds I would get some good chips that can hit 250 or 260? Would the 4000's maybe take less volts to hit 250 or 260?

odds are very good you can get to 260 with a little effort. It's those extra 10-15Mhz that costs the extra dough. So if you want 270fsb then go with the 4000s.
