Welp, I got my modded PC-DL up and running. Thanks for the mods fishy!! :)
But I am having some problems, #1 My OC sucks & sucks & sucks some more! #2 The performance sucks & sucks & sucks some more. :eh?:

I Super PI'ed the 2x3.0gig Xeons at 1mb and got 47 seconds.
mem 2x256 @ 2.5-3-3-7

I Super-PI'ed my 3000+ Venice @ 290x9 on a 5/6 divider and got 35 seconds
mem 2x512 @ 1.5-2-2-5 237mhz

Granted the AMD has the bomb mem timings, bandwidth & capacity...But I thought for sure the 2 Xeons would smoke it, since they have 1mb L3 cache with 512k L2 cache.

I have the v-core set to 1.61 anything over that it crashes or goes into long repeating beeps (OVP I'm sure) and the v-AGP mod is set to 1.57v with mem at 2.77

So far the best I have gotten these thing to is 3.0ghz at 15x200.

I wonder if its the PSU...it is the dual 12v rail Fortron 530w which is notorious for cruddy OC'ing

Any help is apprecieated...even you byrdman...Heh! :)

1 zeon should do 47 and two should kick azz
do you have to set thirdleveldatacache 1024 like with a secondlevel maybe?
in regedit?

Never heard of using regedit to make use of my CPu on-die cache...???

It shows up in CPU-z 1.29

open it and search secondleveldatacache You should see a thirdlevel too
I had to edit mine when i got a 1mb l2 cpu
p.s. I'm not positive this is your problem(worth a look)

Ok, I found it thru the regedit search function...should I modify it? What value should it be set to?

decimal 400 for 1 mb do you see second and third?
it can't hurt ive changed mine with no ill effects
You do have latest chipset drivers right?

You do know that you have too install the second cpu in windows like a piece of hardware?(even if you see it in bio's?)

Well, SuperPI is single threaded.. DUAL xeons will not help at all.. So, in essence, you have a 3ghz P4 vs a 2.6 (~4000+) A64.. theres why your score is lower..

Now try running two at once.. you will still around 47 seconds on both, and the A64 will take 70 or so to finish both :-] bwaha ;-]

And the L3 cache.. are you sure? Do the 2.4ghz M0's have L3 cache? If so, thats cool... but I didn't think it did... I didn't think the L3 cache came until the nocona... ?

[edit] Yep, I guess some of em do :-] Lucky.. mine are the flavor that apparently don't...

I would like to know what Fotron 530 has dual 12v rails ? If that is the case and it has that you are lucky the computer even runs....Would that stop a big over clock .YES, YES and YES..

You need a psu with at least 27a on the 12v line..Not even a OCZ 600 watt supply can power a Xeon rig because the rails are split into 2 x 18a...

I Think Larva mentioned a Fotron 530 that had dual rails but i thought it was sold in europe not the USA...My experence woth fotron 530 is there an 18a supply on the 12v rail that shares the amperage from the 5v line allowing up to 27a max out put on the 12v rail....

Nice! excellent feedback diehrd! I will yank the PSU later today. I bought it off a member here in the classies and I looked up the model number and it was a dual 12v...at least thats what I remember. I'll check it for sure.

Yes try a different PSU if you are able (just to eliminate anything). I thought it was only the NCCH-DL that had problems with the dual rail PSU's (my PC-DL is on a dual rail fortron 550W) but I could be wrong.

Anyway, what perfectturmoil said is also true. Try a benchmark like cinebench or systool if you want to see multithreaded performance.

Although I haven't seen any 1mb L3 xeons, if they are like the other 2.4 M0 xeons they should at least go to 16 x 200 without any problems.

Yep, its the same Fortron 550 dual rail that you have . I'm gonna get a single 12v rail PSU. Thats gotta be it

...cinebench...

OMG yes.. My friend with a pretty decently overclocked XP mobile (something like 11.5x230 or something) Is always a bit ahead of me in most benchmarks.. 3dmark and the like... Except for cinebench.. I trounce the crap out of him in that one :-]

Or try something like This (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=393306&page=3) (check my posts #67, 68) and see what it can do.

my suggestions:

try each cpu by itself in socket #1...try to find the max stable overclock for each cpu at 1.5v, 1.6v and 1.65v (using the mod, i presume)

also, try to minimize other issues by keeping the fsb at 200mhz (keep the pc3200 memory in spec and just keep raising the multiplier)

if one cpu sucks, you'll know quite quick ;)

also, make sure your cpu temps don't exceed 60C, or you may experience thermal throttle...

if both cpus can do a reasonable 3.4ghz by themselves with 1.6v (typical M0 overclock), then you can look at the mobo or the power supply as a possible problem...
