Well, been reading alot about OC here, and think I'm now ready to go for it. :)
Lets see if I got it right.

If I buy a A64 3000+ venice and some pc4000 ram and want to OC the system to 2250MHz. Then the ram will be able to do that fine without changing any timings or settings as they are made to run 250MHz, right?

So if that is the caise, can I then pretty much just buy the cheapest pc4000 ram out there, as long as they can run those 250MHz?

Thanks, KroxX

yes cheap pc4000 will be able to do 250mhz as its rated, but the thing is with cheap RAM comes loose timings which have a negative impact on preformance, might be better suited getting some good pc3200 and ocing it to 250mhz with decent timings, all depends on your budget though.

try those mush redlines or ocz gold xv. but you gota bump your voltage up to like 3.3v. get a fan over it too.

Is exactly because of my budget I'm asking this. :D

After reading this thread I thought those timings didn't mean too much for someone like me not interested in benchmarks..?

Thanks, KroxX

yeah, you'll be fine with some cheapy PC4000! have fun in the DDR500 club.

if you want some cheap DDR500, check out the AData Vitesta DDR500, the stuff is good and can get you to 600mhz+ with 3-3-3-6 (well it did with mine :D) and its probably the cheapest and best DDR500 out there (price/performance)
