i bought this from another member and when it arrived i ran 3dmark and it passed,so far as im concerned it was sold to me in perfect order.

but since that run i took the card out and added a vaga silencer and ramsinks and also took off the shim.

i have no issues in everyday running but will lock or cause a reboot once 3d rendering is involved.
i can get it to run fine if i underclock it 5mhz on the gpu.

i seem to be getting perfect contact on the heatsink and i also added a new fan inside the silencer so its not so silent but cools alot better but has had no affect.

secondly i turn my attention to the shim removel.i inspected it and found no gashes or cuts as im rather good at it with a few years experiance.

it was shipped with as5 or similier on the core which i replaced with as5 and then later white silicone as ive had issues with gpu's not liking as5.

next i need to look into this but my pc P&C 510 only had 1 floppy connector so i had to add another by splicing one on a molex.
this has yet to be tested but will be tonight for correct voltages.

the ramsinks were added and i used white silicone and used super glue on the edges so they can be removed easily.

im switching to pci-e in 2-3 weeks as im heading to the X2 line so i need this thing running in perfect order to be sold.once my new parts come in it will have to be sold as DOA and i get not much over shipping costs.and then i wont have anything to test it on either.

so if you have ideas please lmk.

im thinking i may need to look into the fan power plus thats on the card as maby the silencer fan and the one i added may be pulling to much ampes?
just a shot in the dark there.

the card did mod all 8 pipes but had checkers but with luck i may be able to get that cleared up later.
but now its just running stock 9500 np drivers and 4 pipes.

the issues happen also with a stock setings on my rig also.but would pass with my old 8500 so its not the rig.
i do my testing for this at stock anyhow so i dont have interfierance.

anyhow throw me some suggestion on what to try.mabey new bios?
ive tried ati, omega and microsoft drivers.mabey i didnt clean them out well enough?

tonights efforts were in vain.

i uninstalled all drivers and used a driver cleaner with no affect.
tried moving every setting available in the driver options to no avail.
removed the card and found my floppy connector wasnt fully engaging the pins.fixed that.
also cleaned all contacts as they were covered in a black gunk material.
still no help.
took off heatsink once again, looked for any scratched or odd looking broken parts anywhere with nothing wrong at the end.

i think ive covered about everything i possibley can thing of.
oh i did test the voltages reaching the card. all lines were above spec.
5.1v and 12.3v and this was taken off the lined on the card so i know its recieving full power.

also the affects when it locks is about 20 seconds into 3dmark and also about 2 minutes of ati tool is when i get the locks.
other than you guys giving me some help this card may end up being sold as DOA so pls throw me some ideas!

well its fixed.
Romano3490- and ty for taking a stab at it by pm as you had the fix, even tho it doesnt explain to me why so mabey you guys can help again?

Romano3490- suggested i put the stock heatsink back on.i thought i did this once before but guessing i didnt as its working now.

so can anyone explain just why the arctic silencer wasnt working?
i know it was making perfect contact on the core and wasnt touching anything else.
only thing i can figure was the screws that went threw the mounting holes were grounding out on the pcb but would have to been the threads on the screws.

anyone had this problem or can think of anything else that may be the issue?

At this point, it is probably something crazy. I am glad you fixed it though. I would personally just get rid of it and not worry about what the problem was, lol. As long as it works.

If I had to take a stab at it, I'd say the fan drew toi much power and the gpu didn't have enough volts, thus artifacting.

well it will be sold with the stock cooler no doubt.
well it wasnt artifacting,it was locking or black screening.
but yeh that sounds possible with the fan pulling to much power away but i swear the fan acrtic cooling used was slow and weak.

oh well im happy and probley wont be messing with it anymore.
i have a feeling i may be able to put it on a pci-e card soon :D
