I just obtained a free K6-2 333MHz from a friend, and wondered how much I can expect to O/C the sucker

Check the database from the main page for the averages and such. What's the fsb on that chip 66 or 100? I'm going to throw out a guess of 450mhz as your total overclock, if anyone wants to start a pool. ;)

Expect very little. K6-2's are possibly the worst overclocking chips ever to see the market. Believe me, I know I had a 450Mhz.

Get this. I had my K6-2 450Mhz running at 523Mhz. How did I get there? Well...

Added Chunky SocketA Heatsink.
Applied AS2 to core.
Used a 7krpm Delta on Heatsink.
Had voltage at 2.7v (Yes thats excessive, default is 2.4v)
Had case open with like 3 fans inside.

Not a pretty site. Difference in speed was pretty weak too. I dont use that K6-2 system anymore now. Its sitting in the cupboard gathering up dust :)

You don't deserve to bear the shame of having such a machine, send it to me (you pay the postage) and I'll dispose of it for you. :D

Btw, that's a pretty fair overclocking result but could be better, mine'll go 601mhz if I put the voltage through the roof, perhaps you just had a bad chip for overclocking.

I'll see how far I can get it tomorrow, but however it turns out, it should be a decent replacement for my Pentium 166 MMX
