I keep on hearing static through my HD 280's, whenever I do pretty much anything. What the hell is wrong? This is very annoying.
Thats weird...
The headphones are plugged in fully? Maybe try muting everything that you're not using at the time such as microphone etc?

Very weird.... I don't hear the static anymore. I guess I don't hear the static after the first 30 or so minutes after it being plugged in or used. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in, and slight static then it went away, then after a minute sudden jolts of static would just spit at me. I guess this is an on and off thing?
Are you using onboard sound or a sound card?

I'm using onboard sound. I noticed something VERY strange... OK, so I was hearing alot of static, then in photoshop I kept on clicking the image. Every time I clicked I heard a static jolt. Then for one of those sliders (cntrl+b) in color balance, I just clicked it and held it... and no static! Let go of the mouse button, and static comes back. Hold down the mouse button, barely any static. Let go = alot of static. What the f*** is wrong?!?
are there any updated drivers that could help ?

Nope, I have the latest driver.
Well, thats got me kinda stumped...
The microphone is muted? As well as any other AUX lines that aren't in use or you don't need?

Its called onboard sound. If you are using the HD280s, you should deffinately have a good soundcard. The Chaintech AV710 is only $25 and sounds excellant.

My motherboard has fantastic onboard sound, I've read that it is better than most soundcards.

Can't be all that fantastic if you are getting static.

Meh, so should I shell out $100 on a Audigy 2?

Thats up to you. If you only play music then the chaintech is more than enough. But if you game, you might want to spend a bit more for the EAX.
