odd problem, got myself evil genius this week cause its terribly addicting, like a Sim game meets command and conquer :) anyways. On the Xeon rig in my sig running the game my computer will reboot shortly after the splash screen appears. Event log->MS error service says its a "device driver issue" well, updated sound card, video card(already updated so reinstalled), directx(already updated), checked windows updates, and chipset updates. Also updated the game from 1.00 to 1.01 and still no dice. Yet on my shuttle P4 2.6 wiuth 512MB ram and a junk 20$ XABRE 64MB vid card it runs just fine, any ideas here?

And anyone else play the game? if not you should atleast try the demo its really addictive and it is not "hurting people for no reason", plus its got a lot of humorous events in it.

Have you tried patching the game? Are there patches available?

Oh, and there's plenty of meaningless killing in the game. How ELSE do you get your subordinates to fear and obey you? Why, you kill them in front of their peers, of course!

that was actually ion response to a thread i found by searching for possible answers on this site, so just ignore it. Anyways...

Game has an update and tried that, however browing around for tips on the game I came across a thread about this, apparently its been attributed to the Audigy2 sound card, no known fix yet.. =\ Though an unconfirmed suggestion was to reduce the hardware acceleration of the sound device (change it from hardware to software(low) ) Guess ill give that a shot as the comp it does run on gets a bit choppy during lots of movement and stuff.

Yeah that game IS addicting. It's very underrated IMHO too.

Go to this (http://www.evilgeniuschat.com/) site and do a search. That'll probably solve your problem.

Watch out for those veterens! :p

I played until I got to the second island. Found it to be pretty restrictive for base building and after a crash/game loss I didnt feel like trying again.

that sucks on the game crash, but dunno abotu you but the base on island 2 was wicked for me. And I still had more room to build in even. Got some wicked entrance systems and base defenses. Which is good considering I have 4 supers after me now :)
