Hi, I got a Microsoft Wireless Desktop For Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I want to be able to use these both at a range of 5-10 feet from the transceiver. My problem is that while the mouse works just fine the keyboard is intermittent, sometimes it will work great but then if I stop typing for a few minutes it doesn't work again, or will only pick up a few of the keystrokes I make. Any ideas on how to make it better. I tried running Windows Media Center 2005, when that didn't work I tries Windows Pro SP2 and had the same problem, got a 1Ghz Athlon on a late model motherboard.

Anything in the field of view between the receiver and the mouse/keyboard? Other wireless devices present?

nothing in the field of view, no other devices

With BlueTooth it shouldn't matter.

I'm pretty sure your KB is the fault here but try the following:
Rise the receiver to the highest point you can, BT should work to around 10 meters with no regard for field of view but its worth a shot.
I'll think of something else in the meantime.

can you try resinking the devices, and have you tried reinstalling the drivers and making sure you have the most updated ones

ive had similar issues with my logitech bluetooth setup. I bought the kit, worked great 3 rooms away (even when i didnt want it to, jsut wanted to clean it). but the keyboard DELETES iteself often....

i cant find it....i cant reinstall it WITHOUT uninstalling the bluetooth software useing a older keyboard, then reinstalling the software again.

no amount of reconecting and new batteries would work

this happens more than it should, and logitech has a VERY nice 5 year waranty. they replaced one and it seems to be helping, only happened once in 6months, compared to monthly before.....

THEGREYSPECTRE, I don't know what resinking the device means. I have tried moving the transceiver to different positions, both up and down, no joy. and yes I am using the most up to date drivers and I tried it on a fresh install of XP Pro, still no joy, any more ideas?

resinking means going into the software and seting up the device again, or reconnecting it.

the software will let you *look* for bluetooth devices. Try that and see if you find your keyboard.
