Looks like its not much different than what we've seen before, but I was thinking about playing it for a while again.

Anyone tried it yet?

There was a 'preview' trial awhile back that was free to anyone i think, i tried it for a little, felt the same doesnt look like much really changed...

There is a guild of old school players that don't twink, power level, use bots and pretty much play the game like it was played back when the game was released.

I'm might give the free trial a shot and see if it can be as good as it was back in the day. Really, its just a matter of finding good people (they sound cool) and staying away from the temptation of easy money, power leveling, walk-through/guides and taking loot/buffs that are way above your level.

It seems pretty much like what was so fun about the game in the begining. Just playing for fun and being a noob oblivious to the leveling rat race and loot whoring.

FF

I played for a while tonight and it does look better. Still looks like crap, but pretty good for AC. I'm going to try and hook up with that guild tomorrow.

Its going to be tough to resist the temptation of twinkage, but it was kind of cool to actually do noob quests in the game. Turdbine must have put some effort into those levels that people usually just power level through.

You can actually find useful loot for low levels too!!! I can't remeber how many freaking apples I pulled of of drudges to save a few hundred P just to by crappy studded leather armor from the Rithwic black-smith.

Its a shame that they didn't have this kind of stuff set up 5 years ago when people actually played game from level 1 and up. Now people get twinked, get VII's from bots and just power level past any sub-level 60 content.

You guys remeber the Green Mire and Fore (sp?)?

Oh well, I don't thing the expansion changed anything all that much, but I'm going to try and recapture some of that 1st year, old school goodness.

That and people who would steal peoples stuff when muling. I never lost anything, but it did add an element to the game that was interesting. You'd head to the muling spot and back tract a bit to make sure nobody was on the edge of your radar. I had a few people follow me out of towns like that.

WoW (pun intended) you guys are bringing back some GOOD memories from my FF days!
i started AC1 about 2-3 weeks after it went public...my friend played BETA AC1 :)

can you remember:

needing to *LEARN* your spells...
the first time you faced an Olthi (sp)...
classic Olthi (sp) helms...

patch days.... (and the next few after...lol)
and i dont know about you, but back then, i still had dialup .... :bang head

GOOD TIMES! GOOD TIMES!!

thanks for the "flash-back"
feel free to turn this into a nostalgia trip :)

When spells used to do more/less damage or give a better buff depending on how often it was used on the server....when pyreals had a burden value! oooh my the good ol days....

I think i started 2 months after retail, the good ol days of BZ

I think I started around a month after retail. Man, they new how to do live events.

We'd see BZ flying over head and send tells to people in towns that he was heading towards.

I always tried to catch him to see him bust everyones balls. And on TD we (well, other people) sucessfully defended the crystal he was in so devs came in and busted it open.

We have a memorial with a ton of defenders names on it still.

That was cool.

I wish i was there hen Asheron appear too.

That was a cool storyline, I also liked the Gaerlan one, although I dont think a lot of other people did...Martin showing up at an in game wedding between two players and killing the groom and bride was just funny

lol, I think I quit before that happened, but that is funny.
