First Xbox 360 seen in the wild! MUST SEE THIS!

It’s pretty common for kids to go trolling on game forums and make obnoxious claims such as having a go on the Xbox 360 in their own home. Well, this thread on Gamespot started that way, except the kid actually backed up his claims with these photos:

Now the kid is begging to get the thread deleted (maybe he found out what an NDA is), but the cat is already out of the bag. Apparently his step dad just started working for Microsoft under the title of Regulatory Compliance Manager, and is currently hardware testing the Xbox 360. The wires coming out the top are for such testing. The hardware is apparently complete, and although there were no 360 games to test, he gave Halo 2 a spin in backwards compatibility. He is claiming the power supply is external, and is enourmous. He also raved about the user interface/dashboard and the feel of the controller (and this coming from an admitted PlayStation fan, so it must be good).

You are a damn lucky kid, but I hope you didn’t just cost your step dad his new job.

Robert Scoble confirms “Xbox 360 in the wild” pics are REAL

Robert Scoble, technical evangelist at Microsoft, has confirmed that the pictures we posted Sunday night are in fact real. He wrote on his blog :

I have a few friends over on the Xbox team. It’s real, turns out and was not a “planned PR event” as one of them put it to me. As of last night the kid’s dad still had a job.

Hmmm, can I get an Xbox 360 to leave for my son to play? He’s holding “Xbox camp” at my house this summer. Bring your kids over.

He’d podcast about his experiences, that’s for sure!

How do you punish a kid who breaks an NDA on your behalf? On the other hand, this IS brilliant marketing! Got a bunch of people to talk about the Xbox 360 this week. I wonder, can we give this kid a copy of Longhorn? ;-)

He also posted a similar statement on the Channel 9 MSDN forums . So enough with the crazy conspiracy theories that this is a big fake, or some type of viral marketing, okay?

You can sord of seat it behind him in the first picture, just the corner of it. It is near the outlet that he is getting power from.

that kid needs slapped around for one and not because of the leaking he did but because even with a pc then ps preference i would carry one huge ear to ear grin if i had one of these things to play on right now and it's my stern belief that he should too

Also if it was real, what is the deal with the junky TV, completely empty room, no nothing. If the Dad works at Microsoft you'd think he would be making at least decent money :shrug: :rolleyes:

You know, other things happen in the world other that one or two assumptions made by you guys. They could have just moved in, renovated the room, painted, getting new furnature, house blew up and is temporary stuff, ect. It doesn't look like a photoshop job to me. The colour and light from the TV looks too real. Also it doesn't look like digital grain was used on the low quality image.. so i doubt its a picture he got offa the internet.

It probably has an external transformer thingy like the gamecube has. I don't consider that a big deal, I consider the wires a big deal. Could give a hint or two about where to start hacking one of these babies! Aww, linux on a cell proc... I'd sell my main rig to buy one if that were true... And if they bench well :P

i think its real and i dont see anything wrong with it . ... at all ... i guess the only arguement is tht he plays before everyone else but thtz not tht solid of a statement ....... not a big deal maybe if he showd of real footage of a 360 game bieng played now thtz big :p
