Not my video-card, but soon to be mine (i hope =/).. Either way, I have identified the capacitor, but have NO clue where to go and buy it. Any1 have any idea? I don't think Mouser or Digi-Key has it, so i'm gonna keep looking.

I've never looked for something on mouser that they didn't have. Although their prices tend to fall toward the expensive side unless you're getting 439254380 gross of them. Try there, or sometimes allelectronics.com or allied electronics.
Good luck!

Nope, not at mouser, allelectronics, digi-key, or allied O_o
I'm thinkin of buying a dead 6600GT with a 330pF cap of the same series. Oscon SVP series. The one that broke is 180pF, but the one on the 6600GT is 330pF. Same voltage, it should work.
try to get them locally if possible will be cheaper more likely. Look in the phone book for electronics shops.

I'm not sure if it matters that it's not solid polymer, but it should work anyhow. I just froogled "180 uf". Hope this helps.

nah, I need a SMD cap, Solid Polymer. I know lots of video cards use em (6600GT AGP Refrence, X800XT etc.), so I'm looking for a dead video card. A higher uF rating works too, but needs to be 16v and polymer.

What's the difference?

What's the difference?
Surface mount means the capacitor is soldered to the board, and radial lead is soldered through the board.
And polymer is a different kind of capacitor than electrolytic altogether. It uses a different method/material to store electricity.

well... right... but what's the difference in operation?

Like I said, its a polymer cap, and not an electrolyte. It uses a different method to store electricity. I would use that if it worked however.

I understand that it's a polymer cap not an electrolyte. What difference does that make though. What is the difference in operation between a 180 uf 16v polymer cap and a 180 uf 16v electrolyte cap BESIDES the fact that one uses solid polymer and one uses electrolyte. Why can't you use one instead of the other?

Radio Shack, if the store dont stock it, they can get it.

Not flaming here, but I can't remember the last time I went to radio shack and they could order something they didn't have. I remember back in the day they were the fix all for everything. Anymore, all they carry are expensive tv's, stereos, vcr/dvd players and phones. Sure they have some resistors, diodes, LEDs (about the most usefull thing they carry), and caps.. Their selection on such items is so limited that you can hardly make a decent timing circuit (do they still carry 555/556 timer ICs any more?).
Sorry.. I just got back from the Shack and (as usual) didn't have what I needed and couldn't order it. I think I'm done going there

So true. Plus, they are overpriced... $3 for 2 LEDs? I don't think so.

solid: try going to the manufacturer's site. they generally list retailers (that's how i found avnet and managed to get some integrated circuits).
palee: i had forgotten that you had a cool avatar, where have you been? :p

Hmm, well, they didn't have any retailers, but I shot them an e~mail, so they should respond saying if they have em for sale or not.
