Dual channel problems

Is anyone having problems with running 2 gig of dual channel in an athlon64 board. I have a buddy that is running the A64 4000+ with 2 gig(2x1024) pc3200 dualchannel. When it boots up it reverts to 2700......What gives? I have 1 gig(2x512)pc3200 running in the asus delux sli board and would like to put in another gig but if this is a problem then im not sure i want to do it. He says that its a common problem and that there isnt a fix for it.....I guess it only does it when trying to run 2 gig or more....? This is the first ive heard of this.

Force the 1T command rate.
