i just clocked my radeon 9800pro from 380/340 (stock speeds) to 425/375; and im proud of it =) question : will my oc'ed card be better then a regular 9800XT (412/365 speeds), i mean .. does the 9800XT has hidden speeds or something :p thnx :santa:
Well, you've had better luck than I've had. Everytime I push the memory core higher than 325 it just resets to 216?!? My stock 9800pro speeds are 350/300, and its at 400/320 right now. Brand: Powercolor, 256MB, 128bit.

Don't wanna sound discouraging, but I think overclocks like that, even with adequate aftermarket cooling, kills the card. And no, I don't think XT has hidden speeds and such. You might be missing some features such as the temperatue monitor, but I think performance-wise, it will be better.

i do have a zalman vf700cu on my 9800pro ... i now have ddr memory on my card. but for example, the x700 has GDDR3. and it only has a speed of 432mhz. if i OC my card a bit higher. my ddr memory is faster then that GDDR3 memory :s i thought GDDR3 memory is better then DDR2 (533mhz) anyone can explane this?
425? thats crazy, the highest i ever got mine was like 408, i hope you card dosent light on fire :S

Ive got my AIW 9800 Pro OCed up to 411/394, anything after that creates artifacts. 3dmark05 score 2716 BOOYA!! Only got it once though, cant seem to get over 2700 anymore

I used to run my 9800pro (Built by ATI, 128MB, r360 core flashed to XT) at 430MHz Core/380 Mem, but after a few months it started to produce artifacts at those speeds. So now I run it at stock XT speeds (412/365) and it works great.
I have an Arctic Silencer and copper BGA RAM sinks.

9800pro, P4 sinked + mods, 515/385 benchble on crappy air.
Running those clocks wont hurt your card at all. As long as theres no artifacting, and the card isnt getting massively hot, theres no problem at all.
Yeah just like Highlander, Chris64 here on the forums whose watercooled his 9800Pro was running at a core speed of 500mhz...yummy!
