View Full Version : Well, I SUPPOSEDLY completed my first WU...

After 6 hours of impatient waiting for my first WU to complete, finally the protein was done, and it connected to the Stanford server, getting a new protein to work on... but my WU counter is still at 0! I tried double clicking on it in EM, but it's still at 0! I just finished my second WU about 5 minutes ago, and it's STILL at 0!

What gives? I thought it was 5 WU for one protein!

there is a delay. it updates every 3 hours or so i guess. it will not show up right away. just give it a few minutes.

Well, it's now hour 15. And still 0 WU's. I suppose I'll give it another day before I start ranting.

hum. mine took like a day (of course i didnt check it that often).

make double sure your name is right. i messed up my name :-)

also, where are you checking?

if you goto:

http://foldingathome.stanford.edu/

then click on stats, then individual stats (kinda hard to find, but its there), and type in your name, it will tell you real stats. its a little more reliable. but give it a good day, and it will (should) show up.

were it says wu on em double click. it sometimes takes them awhile to update.

Already tried doubleclicking the WU indicator. And my stats aren't on the website either.

just wait awhile. they will show up. stanford updates every 3 hours or something like that. you can check stats here.

PhluBB,

what client are you using? The screensaver or the console client?

show us exactly how you put your user name in. I believe the screensaver defaults to cs-sdk and you have to manually configure the client.cfg.

you will want to put in PhluBB (www.overclockers.com) for the username/email. This is true for the console version too. Your wu should have shown up by now.

Let us know if we can help more.

I'm using the console version with Electron Microscope. My F@H name is Proteus9K (www.overclockers.com).

And another thing... When I finished my first protein strand (called bbalphaua), it gave me another one (as expected) called bba5_build_ext.

When bba5_build_ext was done, it started folding bbalphaua again!

AND, I installed F@H on my other computer, using the same username as on this machine. And IT started folding bbalphaua!

Shouldn't my results have been posted to the Stanford server, and a NEW, DIFFERENT protein have been assigned to each of my machines? Is this some sort of side effect to my WU record not being posted?

About the proteins. It isn't the same exact protein you folded earlier but the same strain. You will fold many BBalphaUA's and the others. You really are not redoing the same work.

I don't see you anywhere on the stats as Proteus9k. I have no idea what is going on.

Anyone else around can help him out?

Well then could someone tell me how to COMPLETELY remove F@H from my system?

I had "tried" it out about a month ago, and at that time decided I really didn't care (I didnt even know what it was till yesterday).

My username from that previous install somehow migrated into the new version when I installed it yesterday.

I want to start anew, with a new user name. There aren't any registry entries that I can delete to get rid of the username Proteus9K, it's just there. (And no, I didn't put in the W98SE Key using Proteus9K, I used my full name.)

Does the Stanford server record an IP address and permanently assign it to a certain username?

Edit: I see in the F@H folder, there is a file called client.cfg. If I edit the "Email" value to "PhLuBB (www.overclockers.com)", would that start a new "account" for me? (The current value is "Proteus9K (www.overclockers.com)".)

do this...

open the "client.cfg" file into notepad.

you should see your info in there. this is an exact post of the first part of mine:

[settings]
email=cowanrg (www.overclockers.com)

(you MAY see black boxes, those are basically <enter>. they just go to a new line...)

edit that file, and all should be good.

ok, well, you should be fine. there is no "install" or anything like that. its pretty much a server program. so, that should work. just give it a good day.

I will do just that. If it doesnt show any WU's after another 12 hours (3 protein's or so), then I'll let it go anyway, for the betterment of science!

Can anyone explain what all that means:

Overall Rank
30079

USER/GROUP
arthur liberman (That I understand...)

UNITS
99

CPU DAYS
21

CPU HOURS/UNIT
5

Overall Rank --this is your rank out of everyone folding
30079
USER/GROUP --This is you!
arthur liberman (That I understand...)
UNITS ---Your wu's (generally 5 per protein)
99
CPU DAYS --how many days you've been folding
21
CPU HOURS/UNIT --How long it takes you to finish
5 --1 wu (about 1/5 a protein)
It doesn't usually report that accurately

It will take sometimes a day or two before the first wu you turn in shows up in the stats. After that they update every 3 hours at 10 minutes after the hour. Stanford time 12AM, 3AM, 6AM, 9AM, 12PM and so on. Statsman updates another 1/2 hour to one hour after Stanford does.

=)__)

I had F@H on my mom's computer, all set up so she wouldn't know about it (No stealth mode needed, she can barely work the mouse, let alone AOL. )

However, the problem is that when EM is running (With F@H), when you shut down Windows, it gives you your standard DOS prompt error "You must shut down this program" Yadda yadda.

That's too much for my mom, because when that pops up, she'll click "Ok", which halts the system. (It halts my system too--try it, see if it halts yours).

I can't make her go through another "step" to shut down, so telling her "Hey mom, before you shut down, double-click that glasses icon in the tray, and exit the program before you shut down" is unacceptable. I don't even think she'd understand me.

Is there any way around this?

See this thread (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39053) . It should have everything you need.
