You got it from the official site? Also, ZA might be misinterpreting it trying to see what you are doing (and then relaying that to your list of friends).

Before you cry bloody murder why not ask Zone alarm tech-support what the deal is.

It's collecting everyone stroke you make on the keyboard.

If thats not a keylogger i dont know what is. millions of people use this program do you understand how many passwords they can get from this...

i hope someone reports them and they shutdown.

I need to change over 50 account passwords now thnx to them. Not to mention i uninstalled that pieace of garbage the second i saw it.

Dude, chill out. Most of the people who use xfire are minors, so they don't really have that much banking acct information or anything. I use Kerio Personal Firewall and it never did that.

I've heard of alot of gaming accounts getting hijacked.... wonder if they was using xfire.

since Xfire is supposed to activate when ingame if you do specific keystroke combination, it is clearly necessary for Xfire to monitor your keyboard activity.

You'll be using ZA version 6.xx.xxxx then. It reports the same for a variety of other programs before you go ape.

So no one cares whenever they type the password into there account its being logged?

not being logged, being monitored. Big difference

It's still being captured which means everyone stroke i make is being sent to there servers along with everyone elses.

I see no facts to support your statement that every keystroke is being sent to Xfire.

Read my first post and look at the picture..........

Read the post by SSS who quotes the user agreement for Xfire, and provides an answer from the administrators of the Xfire user forums. The picture you post has been identified as an error in the software you are using. A known error.

Your picture doesnt show anything that says any keystrokes are being sent to XFire, or being viewed by anyone at XFire.

its just monitoring your keys, as said before. But not actually sending the keystrokes to their site, or any other site.

XFire needs to see what keys are being pressed, due to the fact that certain keys/keystrokes initiate certain parts of XFire.

Tell me, if Xfire wasn't monitoring you keys, then how would it know when you press a button for it to do something?

Would you concider winamp a keylogger? It constantly monitors my keys, when up. So it knows when i press the " C " button to pause and such.

What about TeamSpeak? And you have it set to key activation, if it wasn't monitoring the keys, it would never let you speak.

its only MONITORING your keystrokes, not actually logging them and sending them to anyone.

Xfire is safe, its not a keylogger. If it was, we would have known about it being so a loooong time ago, and no one would be using it.

I seriously doubt the likelihood of xFire being used as some mass keylogging device, what would the programmers of xFire want with your specific account password that might-possibly-once-every-full-moon-if-the-humidity-is-27.8% be the same as your password for a bank account or Steam (just using that as an example) account. I know I wouldn't take the trouble to build in keylogging and recording functionality to a program if the reward was just a few teenagers' Steam accounts - not that I'd do this anyway for moral reasons, but you can understand what I'm trying to say.

I too agree, there are more important account passwords a company would want, instead of your Steam account or game passwords. they wouldn't target 16 year olds, that don't have a bank account of their own.

Also, Blue65, Welcome to the forums man! Just noticed this is your 2nd post, and no one said anything to you in your other post sooo....

Zone Alarm may have picked up on the key-logger, but did it say anything about Xfire traffic?

Might want to check your logs.

why was this made in a new thread, why not add it on the end of your other one?

Anti-Viruses will give you all kinds of false alerts. I stopped using Norton because 99% of it's warnings where absolutely nothing to work about. I think it actually only ever warned me about one legitimate virus, which ended up not being a threat to me. :p

Anything that makes use of the keyboard is a "keylogger". ;)

hmmmmm.... if they want my e-mail passwords they can have them... all they will find is how to get a larger piece, a cheap mortgage, a degree through the internet, or an offer to join the US army/police (and i'm a canuck wtf)

heh... and if they log every keystroke in game they must hate looking through all the counterstrike keystrokes to find my password... specially since it was only ever entered once on my pc.... hehehehe...

maybe somebody hacked you.

what i would really like to see in xfire is a plugin to add my msn contacts so i can scrlk+x to talk to them... then they can have some interesting keystroke logs ;)
