Hey all, just brought up my old Linksys 4port router/gateway from my old residence<where I was using 1.2mb/s DSL service, and am trying to hook it up to the @Home service here, but to no evail! AHHHRGH!
for some rediculus reason the @home network won't help me out with setting this up properly, I had to lie to them and tel them I was just using the router as a firewall...not to share my other two systems<they'll charge me extra otherwise...those basterds...

Anyway, where I am the @Home network uses dyanamic ip swithing, so I set it up on the router this way, and...nothing, the router won't renew my DHCP<it stays at 0.0.0.0, and i have no net access at all.

LAlso, when trying to access the other system that is connected to the router, I can't<i'm thinking this has to do with the crappy 10mb/s 3 comm NIC that @Home gave us for the cable modem.

This is so agrivating!!
If this is the kind of thing that is common with @home what's the point in it, where I am the dsl service is practaly the same speed, and is way more forgiving, and cheaper than the stupid cable companies that charge an arm and a leg <nearly $55.00/month with the modem rental> for a mediocer service that works properly 60% of the time.....
<sorry, had to get that out...I've spent around 20 hours trying to make this work....>

Any suggestions would be great.
thanks.:D

 :D
Ha! figured it out!
Just had to release my ip, dns, etc. before switching over to the router!
Don't ch just love the undocumented setups of networking harware!<and everything else for that matter!

Still having trouble with the network though.....strange..
Are 10baseT NICs compatable with 10/100baseTX NICs?
I didn't think it should make a difference, should it?
