Ok im still struggling with heat problems.. I mean aluminum case, 3 80mm 36 CFM fans 2 going in 1 exhaust. I have an SK6 with a ytech 50cfm 60mm fan on it. My fan is currently blowing air onto the heatsink....
I am getting temps around 55C load. The temps are not from MBM. they are from a compunurse nestled up to the CPU die. Any suggestions????

What's your room temp?

Room temp is about 62 F. I don't know what it is in C. I think about 22 or 23 C.

How are your fans positioned?

1 80mm 36cfm fan for exhaust. 2 80mm 36cfm fans in the front sucking in. Its a lian li case. the SK6 is attached flat with ASII. I even removed the 4 little circular pads on the chip to make sure it is resting flat. Everything seems kosher. Even with the case open its still around 51C

Make sure the thermal probe from the Compunurse is nestled up NEXT to the die, I trim the plastic from the tip and tape them to the side of the chip so that the tip is touching up against the side of the core. You DO NOT want the thermistor between the die and the heatsink, as that will insulate the die and prevent good contact. Make sure the wires and etc aren't too thick and aren't preventing the HSF from making full good contact with the core.

Forgive the terrible MS-Paint Skills, I'm at work and don't have Adobe Illustrator at my disposal.

Thanks for the pic. I have it setup similar Its not on the die but its against the side of it. Maybe the plastic from the cable is raising the HS just a fraction off the CPU die. Is there any black plastic molding from the cord between the CPU and HS. not the actuall die. Just the square chip.
hi m8 i had the same problem what i did was make sure the clip was directly over the cpu die now im geting temp of 38 load

Do you have the fan on the hint sink blowing down on the heatsink of sucking the airt up and through it?.. Common sense tells me that hot air rises so it would be better to have the fan sucking air up through the heat sink and exhausting it away from the processor, but i don't know. Can anyone else comment on this please!!

Have you tried reversing the fan? Depends on the HSF design which way is better.
Edit: If I'm correct, shrouded heatsinks usually have the fan pulling air.

I do completely agree with asmodean!

When your probe is reporting the high temps, have you looked at the temp in the BIOS or tried MBM to see what it reports.
If the probe is giving you false results because of inaccurate placement, this would prove it or disprove it. Also, maybe remove the probe to ensure it is not causing improper contact between the core and the HSF. Then check the temp in the BIOS or with MBM and see what it says.

actually the Sk6 usually renders better results while the fan is blowing in - with the 3 i have worked with, i have gotten no less then 3 c less when turning the fan around (blowing in) personally i think the Sk6 is garbage, get a diferent HS, Try the glaciator 2 but that is all just my opinion
