Ok... I've got a SB Live Platinum 5.1 right now. Got the Live Drive IR and all that good shtuff... Anyway, I can get a SB Live Audigy X-Gamer or MP3 for 100 bucks right now, and it will hook up to my Live Drive. Only difference between my LiveDrive and the Audigy Live drive is that mine doesn't have a Firewire port on the front, but I don't really use firewire anyway.
Basically, I'm asking if it's worth the hundred bucks for this Card?
Peace
John

Well I've considered getting one. Really wanted it because of the firewire port on the card. I already have a firewall card but the Audigy would open up a PCI slot. I don't really need the card though so I haven't gotten it. Plus I'd like to wait till they've been out for a bit so they can get new drivers out to fix issues. Of course Creative has always been slow on drivers. The real question you should ask is do you NEED one? Chances are you won't notice a difference in games and the like unless you are a real audiofile. And if you are then chances are the Audigy is to low end for your taste.

EX has more software. All types of audio software. Both the Plat and the Plat EX have the same card, livedrive, and whatever else they come with. Just software.

nope there dift

platnium is internal and if you run any sblive in the bottom slot of your mobo your add on midi adapter is useless

and software is really useless at least you get some games with the platnium and break out boxes never excited me especially if you have to carry your computer to lans

Hmm...I read the specs and stuff at the Creative site. Seemed pretty much identical to me. But oh well. Both are expensive and the EX has nothing for me.

Well it has a daughterboard that has a midi port or game port or something. I doubt you have to use it if you don't want to.

as far as the live drive from sb live!5.1 working with the audigy card, "survey says...XXX" check out the faq section, it says the same. I bought it for that reason w/o looking at the faq's so now I have 2 sound cards. oh well, i'll just put5.1 in the other sys I plan on building

THe Audigy Platinum and Platinum EX are IDENTICAL hardware wise, both have Livedrive, daughtercard, and main sound card, the ONLY difference is LiveDrive color and software(EX has a few more programs for musicians)You can upgrade to "EX" software at anytime.
