I am wondering, is a normal ata 133 hard drive with a sata converter to plug into the sata port going to run the same speed as a native sata hard drive, or is there a bottle neck or something ? both 7200 rpm 8mb cache.

IDE + SATA connector = SATA Compatible. The HDD be it SATA or PATA will be limited by the drive itself & not the interface & no single IDE drive has been known to exceed the limits of SATA Interface. SATA & PATA are both IDE devices. Has there been a huge technology leap that has made you believe that the interface is the bottleneck of performance?
