with the "NOT WW5" FOLDing contest as close as it is (was) , i pulled my water cooled sig rig into it...FOLDed for 3 days @ 2850MHz and then last night (2 nights ago) i come home from work to find it froze...cant get the thing to boot with more than 1 stick (and it has to be 1 specific stick) of ram. i have tried: (2x) gig sets of OCZ VX, (2x) gig sets of BH-5, (1x) set of TCC5 and (1x) set of TCCD
needless to say its "limping along" with that 1 stick till this contest is over but....
stupid DFI cold boot bug :bang head
ok so thats the background story of my project tonight...
my problem, i have a nice "lil" 300+ pointer thats going to finish an hour or so after i get home from work (in about 3 hours) and i want the points, but DO NOT want to have it DL another WU till i have it back @ full strength (if/when i decide to have it FOLD again)
how can i accomplish this?
ive thought about UN networking it (pull the LAN cable) but then it wont be able to turn the WU in...
can i copy the work in the work folder and paste it into one of my other (24/7) FOLDing rigs work folder and then have that rig send it in?
any help is greatly apreaciated...hope to have an answer B4 it DL's another...i REALLY dont want to DL a WU that i know i wont finish....
PS im NO PC expert here, i know how to 1click (change name/bigWU=yes) and set up EMIII. other than that im kinda lost....so please keep it simple ;)
Folding as a service, Stop the service using services.msc, edit the registry to put -oneunit in the registry line \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servi ces\FAH\Parameters\AppParameters, Restart the service. Folding GUI put -oneunit on the Target line of the shortcut. Folding as text console, stop the console with CTRL-C and restart it with -oneunit in the command line.

its folding as a service (1 click) on win2000pro
stop service: i go to admin tools, services, highlight FaH and "stop"
edit registry: can i do it like i edit the 1click? (notepad) is there any order / place i need to put the " -oneunit "

open regedit and go to that key. right click on the key and chose modify. go to the end and add a space and type -oneunit and click ok. restart the service.

Man, that's a lot of work for nothing, editing the registry and all to put the flag in it. All you need to do is stop the client in services, then make a shortcut to the executable file and add either the -oneunit or -pause flag on it in the target line, then start the client with the shortcut you just made. That will let the client finish the wu and send it in without downloading another wu. And this way you don't have to go mess around in the registry.

It's just as easy either way.

or, you can let it finish the wu, let it send and just stop the service since I'm sure you will be near the rig waiting for that moment so you can proceed with the operation. Nurse, scalpel... :D

as i said in another thread, if i get another mobo working (come on ATI....NOW is the time to bring out "grouper" and knock DFI off the top spot) im going to run this DFI over with my car...or maybe the fork-lift @ work...be just my luck to get a flat tire

edit: double post...
mind if we talk about my "cold boot bug" for a few?
(lots of "quality, STABLE-minded" people here in the FOLDing section ;) )
anybody else face this with a DFI NF4 mobo?
i have a few theories but ... testing now...*should* keep my mouth shut....
(BIOS, mobo, mem, or the board itself?)
i know Mustanley just got a DFI NF4 up and chill'n  a few days ago...
(and he listened to MY advice setting it up....oops :eh?: )
thanks
