How are you goig to get more then 1?

07-27-05, 10:22 PM
lol the only way would be to bring a lot of makeup, or something lol. if i pick one up for you your'e paying market price of 350 (hypotheticly, not making deals outside of classifieds)
its not worth the trip for just one,,, if i could maybe throw down 1000 on these then its worth it
Damnit, I could have used it for $50. Nice find though SolidxSnake.

I saw this too last week. I wish I was local, I'd get one for my mother. These easily go for $300 or more, its still fast enough for regular use. With apple you pay for the ease of use and design, not speed. Awesome deal.

Im thinking of driving down there during the morning ....so bump one off...but my gal will scream at me ..
its only 50 bucks...heck, give it to her, she cant break it

I read this so far on 3 or 4 different sites. It is probably going to be crowded, very crowded. Slickdeals posted this a while ago, so expect tons of ebay resellers bringing family members to each buy one for them.
if slickdeal knows, that measn the whole site will be cramped, crap..
why do we have internet ?

Actually they arn't too bad, remember it's a different architecture...I have a G4 400mhz and the thing runs great...Id put it up against an 800mhz PIII
Mr_Fuchs

the thing is bringing family members,, i went to other people i know, and they figure they'd go if they can just buy one for themselves.. the only loophole is if oyu bring a really old person or a baby or something.

after working it out i got it! I'm going to richmond baby!!! i'm taking the business on the road.. i buy and sell laptops on new yorks craigslist, and posted on richmond i can go down there buy these ibooks and pick up other stuff while in town! i've figured it out.
its 7 hours and 30 minutes to get there so i take an 11pm bus sleep on the bus, and have a nice early 530 jump on the goodies, and even time to perhaps slip through the cracks and buy another one, and then have 6 hours in historical richmond to make more deals, that havnt already been made! Perfect!
does anyone know if you can plug your laptop in on these busses ?i've taken one before but i didnt have a laptop then and didn't take notice...
I live in arlington, va. I am going to go into work late and pick one up :-)

This was kind of too good to be true anyways :-)
FYI...
TO ALL THOSE INTERESTED, A VERY INTERESTING quote from someone close to this sale (quoted in TimesDispatch):
"Buyers should realize they may not get much service life out of these computers," he said. "When you evaluate the condition of the equipment, the age of the equipment, the use that it's had -- the price is reasonable."Stuart P. Myers, vice-chairman of the Henrico School Board

boooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
As a side note, stating that people were coming from California to buy them is frickin' stupid, the cost of gas/plane or bus ticket alone would've been prohibitive.
Mr_Fuchs
08-03-05, 04:42 PM
california is just stupid for one.. for reasons stated above.. but this really SUCKS good thing i didnt buy my bus ticket 7 days early for that discount....
link no longer works.. man i was looking forward to this trip too. i've always wanted to visit the capital of the confederacy

henrico has 262,000 residents... and with 1000 laptops it doesntl ook like there will be a leftover sale
mdameron
08-03-05, 08:50 PM
That link clearly states you have to be a resident of the county, a taxpayer in the county, and a registered voter of the county.
Acceptable methods of such identification include:
* Driver's license (that includes the word "Henrico" on the face of the license)
* Henrico real estate tax bill
* Henrico personal property tax bill
* Henrico voter registration card
Any individual that is not a Henrico resident or taxpayer will not be allowed to purchase an iBook on August 16.
I hope none of you actually thought too long about going to this sale...

How nice. I'm not really suprised that it came to this though, it seems like there wasn't really much organization in the entire process.

Here is another article about the sale:

yeah supposedly over 12,000 people showed up, and there were less than 1000 laptops. But the source that posted that also posted they are worth $999-$1299 each.
Ridiculous, they should have raised the price to at least $200, and at that price im sure they would have sold all of them. Thats all my comments I can post here.

Jesse Sandler said he was one of the people pushing forward, using a folding chair he had brought with him to beat back people who tried to cut in front of him.
"I took my chair here and I threw it over my shoulder and I went, 'Bam,"' the 20-year-old said nonchalantly, his eyes glued to the screen of his new iBook, as he tapped away on the keyboard at a testing station.
rofl that's terrible :|

that shirt has got to have the record for the most views but no bids
You have to click the "Bidders list" link a few lines below the price. As of right now, 24 people have bought at least one, with some people buying a few. Heh, anyway, that is a great price for a shirt with free shipping, reguardless of what it says on it!
