im gonna make a 2 peer to peer network. is a cat5 cable that i can get at radio shack same as a crossovercable?
Crossovers are made of CAT5 but they are not the same as straight cable.
You must look specifically for a crossover cable. On one end of these the wires are reversed as opposed to straight cabling which, obviously, is wired straight through.
You can actually make one yourself with a few feet of cable and some RJ-45 ends. Is very easy and instructions are available on the internet...probably here somewhere.
You should be able to buy one at Radio Shack, Best Buy, CompUSA, etc.
If you don't know exactly what you're looking for, ask for help. They all look identical from just the cable standpoint.

For a little more info on cables and how to wire a network linksys has a nice FAQ section with illustrations here. http://www.linksys.com/faqs/default.asp?fqid=20
Hope this helps

If they have premade cable, look for orange ones. Orange cable usually denote crossover cables. Office Depot and Staples have started carrying crossover cables.

Crossover cables go directly from computer to computer... regular cables need to go from computer to hub/switch/router.... but they're readily available.
