well i can't advise you to download software for recovery as i believe the only good programs cost a lot and i have used a couple and they worked very nice (read: without paying for them, tryed them out at my cousin's house she owned a few) my best advice would be to wait for someone who has more knowledge in this area but one tip, DO NOT HAVE THE DRIVE PLUGGED IN UNTILL YOU WANT TO RECOVER THE DATA i can't stress that enough as that will affect your chances of recovering data if windows uses the drive. good luck

install dos, and use the 'undelete' function........ or pay $k's to a data recovery firm..... or pay uber-bux$ for software as maxxocer says

PC inspector file recovery. Its free and it works ok. It is also painfully slow.
Ontrack easy recovery is way better but costs $$
If you really need the files recovered you can send me the drive. I will see what can be recovered for free for forum members. The ammount of activity that the drive has experienced since the deletion will also affect the chances of recovery.
Send me a PM if you are interested.

I use "get data back", from runtime software, but I paid $80 for it. It does sometimes depending on the situation, truncate the file names.

I also have used PC inspector file recovery and recommend it.
Restorer2000 is a VERY good program and works VERY well with NTFS partitions. I completely reformatted a drive and installed an OS and was still able to recover some important data files (about 200 megs worth) completely and with out a hastle. This I am sure is a best case scenerio as with me I found stuff on the drive that was years old. As stated the amount of activity since the deletion will effect your chances. Since this is a "d:" drive and not the main OS boot drive I would say your chances are VERY good. The price is like 40 bucks. It has a free trial version that will read the drive for you. That of course can tell you if the data can be recovered. Basicly if the drive is a working drive you SHOULD be at least 98% successful.
