So I finally got my x800XL and began overclocking. So far, I have hit 425/550. I am monitoring the temps, and they dont really go above 65C. Idles at 45C. Is this what is holding back an higher overclock? I would like to get a Zalman VF700-Cu, but maybe it won't help my overclock. Ideas?

First of all WELCOME

Now, the X800XL isn't a good overclocker so don't expect too much.
I don't know what you are running there but those are the temps I'm getting with my Silencer so I don't know if the Zalman will actually lower your temps but I would get the Zalman just to silence the damn stock fan.

i think the zalman on the card would give you 10mhz? on memory probably 5mhz on the core, beacuse the x800xl is such a bad overclocker i don't see you passing much further then what you have reached allready :eh?:

Thanks guys. :)

I agree that this stock fan is loud. I have been using ATI tool, to overclock, control fan speed, and monitor temps. I have it automatically adjust fan speed to idle at 45C.

I was also looking at the Zalman cooler because I believe it would be easier to duct out through the back toward the PCI slots. The stock cooler is exhausting to the middle of the case. :bang head

The ATI silencer exhausts out of the case, you can check my review of it in the Cooling part or by running a search.
