hello everyone
jusg bought a used system and being out of the NVIDIA o/c loop just wasking some things.
I have now an eVGA 6800GT with a Artic Cooler 5 on it. - The ram is all on one side of the card so it is all cooled with the cooler.
1. Currently is running @ 439 / 1187 with no artifacts after 6 runs of 3dmark05. Using rivatuner / 3dmark05 - Will do to test stability? Also Rivatuner wont let me go above 439 and coolbits wont show up in the control panel :(
2.Flashing the bios - this card does ultra speed easily and some - Does any one know where i can find an EVGA 6800 Ultra bios? Or can i used ANY Ultra Bios?
3. Are there are voltmod to increase my speed i could do on AIR cooling? or if i do a volt mod must i got H2o?
heres some BIOS's (http://www.mvktech.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=26&func=selectfolder&filecatid=4)
i'm pretty sure you're not limited to the evga bios, as i have the 5950ultra ledtek BIOS on my BFG, as for the voltmod...what are your load temps?
If you really want to flash to Ultra all you gain is looser memory timings and .1v higher vcore. Also it presents a problem with the mosfets being overheated which is the cause of alot of 6800GT deaths due to the extra vcore. As fast as your running that GT now i'd say thats a pretty sweet overclock. Insaneness on the ram...wish mine could hit that.

^^ i guess what you could do is drop your current bios, get the timings from it (as the ultra's ones for some reason are looser =\), add them to your current GT bios using nibitor, and just watch out for the heat issues as stated above, ive seen one of my mates ones go up in smoke (literally) due to just that tiny VCore increase..

The best thing to do for you would be to modify your current BIOS with Nbitor instead of flashing to Ultras speed's since you are running beyond its clocks. Also if you are getting low temp you might think about upping the GPU Voltages which may give you even higher stable clocks, but do this at your own risk.

Sounds good then, thanks for the advice :), will keep the Gt bios.
i have the ram @ 1200 now and it seems stable and the core @ 429 and played farcry all night with no issues.
seems if i want the core higher i got to lower the memory - so today i need to test out both and find the cards sweet spot.
Have to reinstall rivatuner to see the temps - or does the nvidia driver have the temp monitoring in it? i cant locate it. - recall yesterdya idle temps were 46C not sure what load were.

You can monitor your temp with Forcware drivers but I like Rivatuner Hardware monitor better because you can record your temp as you play games or run benchmarks to see what your load temp are.

I have flashed my BIOS also. I have also studied the differences between the GT and Ultra BIOS's and found the same things. The Ultra BIOS has looser timings, and that is what allows the higher the OC's. When I did my Gainward BIOS flash, it was pre-OC'd to 400/1100 and alrwady had 1.4 set for the performance 3D. The 2D was left alone at 1.3 which it should be. You really don't need to raise the 2D voltage.

Will a volt mod really get me much more perofmrnace on a 6800GT ? or for that would i need to go water for sure ?

If you up it to 1.5V you should see better performance and higher clocks, but for that you will need some good cooling that will keep your temp down. Either Water or Phase would be good but I doubt that any air cooling will keep it cool under 1.5Volts, maybe with STATIS C5.

I'd leave well enough a one unless you wanna buy a new card in 2 month's
