Hey I have aquired a bunch of video files in .rm (realplayer) format.

Is there a program out there that I can use to convert them to avi or divx?

TINRA (http://www.divx-digest.com/software/tinra.html) is capable of reencoding .rm files to .avi, but it requires that you already have RealPlayer installed on your system. It's commandline based, but a GUI does exist (here (http://www.divx-digest.com/software/tinra_gui.html)) should you not want to deal with it. Also, a tutorial on how to use the two together is available here (http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/rm2avi.html).

Well I appreciate the help, I downloaded the util and installed it as noted, and everything appeared to work just fine. Except for the fact that it produces not working, functional conversions, but corrupt AVIs.

I mean I appreciate the ability to change it from one form to another, but the whole not-being-able-to-use-it thing kinda kills the app in my mind. Two thumbs down for TINRA.

Anyone have any other solutions to this problem? I have the .RM files finally so I'm able to play around with them, but I can't seem to find a way to convert successfully to AVI. Even other formats would be ok, like DIVX, or anything I don't need crappy Real software to play.

Bump!

This seems like it should be such a simple thing to do, nobody has any input?

It's a bit of a 'my first video editor' but http://www.video-converter.net/ works, and it converted a whole load of divx files that i had which made Sony Vegas crash.
