Amd has announced a problem with its Athlon and Duron processors, which can corrupt data passed between AGP graphic adaptors and the CPU on systems running Win2000. The problem does'nt involve the system chipset, but has been observed when running 3D WinBench 2000 in benchmarking mode. An available patch adds a key to the windows registry

Might this be the solution to why i have been having problems with direct3d games under win2k??
Umm....that information has been out for a long time and amd has had the amd+win2k patch on their site for a while too. I think nvmax also has it built into the program, but I could be wrong.

well, i had already known about and applied the patch. but i'm sure there are plenty of people out there who dont know. thanks for bringing it up... i wouldn't be surprised if several people benefit from being told.
thank god people still bring up common knowledge stuff like this so that the people who weren't using w2k when this was released can actually do something about it.
Good point Rabid Bob Dole. I probably wouldn't have known about it when I built my system if it wasn't for the fact that my cheap memory was screwing with my system. I went through every file on the AMD and Asus web sites trying to figure out why my system was messed up. the AMD+win2k patch was just one thing I happened across when setting up my system.
I was unaware of the problem as I am new to WIN2K, I am very thankful to have seen this. I put it in and am very happy with the results.

Would I have to run this patch under Windows XP Pro final?
What kind of problems before applying the patch????
