heh does anyone know of any decent free anti-virus software or to get something that will work well you have to go buy something?

I've heard good things about AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/)

AVG is good, I prefer Avast! for my machines.

AVG or AntiVir. Whatever you prefer. Avast is another one, but it has the worst UI I have ever used.

I've used AntiVir from http://www.free-av.com , and its decent enough.

I would consider it too.

AVG unless it is a 64 bit OS or a server OS.

AVG is what I use when I need a free AV program.

AVG is amazing.

Plus Maximum PC (for those of you who don't rely solely on OC forums for your product reviews) rated it above Norton and McAffee last year and it doesn't cost a dime OR try to take over your system.

I have tried a few free programs and found AVG to be the best.

Wow, didn't realize everyone liked AVG. I used it on one of my machines for a couple of months. It kept saying I had a virus, but would never get rid of it. So I downloaded Avast! and all is well again.
