Noob Question about Storm and BIX2

Putting together my first WC rig, I had a question about the Storm and BIX2, are there specific inlet and outlet barbs or does it not make a difference?

you should get the same size barbs to not restrict water flow at all... 1/2" o.d. ( for 1/2" i.d. tubing )
would be best.

on the storm, the center barb is the inlet, and the barb to the side is the outlet

on the BIX, it doesn't matter which is the inlet and which is the outlet
