I have never set up a network....please help

Ok I've never networked,
but here is what I would like to do....
update my laptop from my home pc, I have a firewire connection on both.
Can I use the firewire to upate my laptop from my home pc?

I've not done it personally, but looking at ms's website it can be done Check this link (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsme/using/homenetworking/tips/ieee1394.asp), it has a few pointers.
