Yes I know its highly recomended to just do a clean install but then I loose 130 gigs of data unless I can find an easy way to back it up. So heres what I want to do build new rig, new mobo, cpu, gpu. Can I plug in my current hard drive and expect it to work or should I start backin up?

If you are changing the motherboard then you will most likely have to reinstall. If you move within the same socket, or for some reason the same chipset, then you might be able to keep it. Otherwise, you're going to have to back up the data and transfer it.

Why not just create a new partition and put your old files on it, then do a fresh install and you are good to go. Partition Magic is easy to use.
