While comparing my 2.8C @ 3400ish mhz CL2.5 DDR1 vs my P4 650 stock 1:1(yeah i know) DDR2 CL4 I noticed something strange in the Sandra 2005 memory bandwidth bench. The 2.8C rig reports 2x512mb of ram on 2 channels @ 2x245(490mhz) as I'm used to seeing. However, the P4 650 reports 4x256mb of ram on 2 channels @ 4x100mhz(400mhz). Is DDR2 "quad-pumped"??? The 2.8C uses Corsair 2x512 Twinx PC3200XL and the P4 650 has Corsair 2x512 TWINX 5400C4PRO. Aside from the fact that sandra reports my ram as being 4x256MB, why does it also report the speed as 4x100 instead of 2x200???

BTW...the 2.8C smokes my P4 650....5800ish to 4700ish :(. Even with the 650 running 2:3 it only hits 4900ish :rolleyes:

the reason its called ddr2 is because it is ddr X 2. So yes it is quad pumped.

Also the reason your bandwith is low is not a factor of the RAM but of the FSB. If you put the FSB to 1:1 like you did with your 2.8C I think you would see the difference

So the DDR2 sticks i got are really rated 166mhz but quad-pumped? I guess thats why AMD stuck it out on DDR1 until DDR2 hit 800mhz 200mhz quad-pumped...

And I wish I could get 245mhz 1:1 on the 650 but I'm sitting on stock air atm so 236ish is my limit :(

Edit::Just ran a test...5433 mb/s @ 230fsb 1:1 so yeah...i think i'd see the diff :)
