Okay, well I was recently in my device manager for no reason whatsoever, and I found something interesting...

Only 1 of my USB Host Controllers are recognized as Enhanced/2.0. The rest are set as 1.0/1.1....

I've tried everything (forcing the un-enhanced drivers to be an enhanced driver, which lead to a BSOD and the loss of ALL OF MY FIREFOX FAVORITES, undoable)... Is that normal anyway?

BTW, my bios is set fine. it is set with the USB 2.0Controller enabled, and it is set to HiSpeed, and not FullSpeed (FullSpeed is 12mbps, HiSpeed is 480mbps, and don't tell me that's wrong, I know for a FACT that is correct).

Try this to tell if your usb2 is solid, plug in a usb2 and a usb1.1 device at the same time. When you click on the "Root Hubs" they should be listed on separate root hubs. If they're listed together, you're only getting 1.1 rates. Otherwise you're good.

USB2 devices will always list on a separate hub in device manager if it's set up right. Best way to tell.

Hmm, not sure what is/isn't USB2.0 here... I'm thinking my printer and my Capture device are both 1.1, but i'm not sure about my mouse... I'm positive my card reader is a USB2.0 Device (the mass storage device)

Double-click on the Root Hub and you should get a power management screen that looks like this:
Untitled-1.gif

1.1's should be on a seperate hub from 2's.

(sorry if this pic doesn't work-- i've never posted a pic b4).

AH found it!

I looked through all of my root hubs, and every 'standard' root hub had 2 ports available. Opened my enhanced controller hub, checked the power, said 7 ports available :D

thx!

Nice. Glad it's working. I used to get so frustrated trying to figure out if my usb key was running at 1.1 or 2.0 rates.
