the 6800 Le themselves dont always, but so far with all the leadtek ones purchased we are 100% on the unlocks. so its a very strong possibility that you can. But of course no garauntee.

so has anyone purchased one of these and unlocked it? im runnning a XFX 6600GT 128mb AGP at 575/1200 without problems and score 5335 on 3dMARK03 would the 6800LE be better,at stock than this, and how much better unlocked? thanks!!

You should be getting higher than 5335 in '03...I get above 9k with a 6600GT. Post your system in the video card section, and get that thing moving!

I hope you mean 5335 in '05. for info on this card view the link I posted. I have my numbers there (11k+ in '03 and ~4.4k+ in '05) on stock cooling.

my friend's leadtek 6800le (ordered with mine, at the same time), arties at 12x5 in 3dmark05...so almost all his extra pipes are broken

then again, mine runs at 16x6 at 400/900 100% game and benchmark stable...and ours are probably the exact same batch.

it's all just luck of the draw

So even if this didn't unlock it would still unlock to 12 pipelines?

If I can get all 16, then I'm gonna just sell the X800XT PE agp refurb that I get from ATI, and keep this baby. WISH ME LUCK!

Lat
08-16-05, 02:03 PM
you'd have to unlock one quad to get 12 pipes
2 quads to get 16

it's alllll luck ;)

Rivatuner? So it's a software mod, and you have to do it everytime you format the PC, right?

SpaceyWilly
08-16-05, 03:30 PM
right but that also means you can enable/disable it as often as you like easily and without risking damage to the hardware.

g0dM@n
08-16-05, 03:46 PM
What's the point of disabling it? Oh... well I guess if it doesn't work, but if it does work, then I wish you can make it permanent.

Oh well... I can make an image of my installs and stuff on my HDD anyways.

Where can I find the procedure? I'm gonna do it first thing when I get it... if I get it by Friday that is.

I'm bought it also today b/c I want to try to unlock. :) If it does I'm just gonna sell the X800XT PE refurb when I get it.

I'm so excited to try it, though... let's hope it puts a smile on my face; if not, and I only get 12 pipes then I'll still be happy. I haven't heard of anyone not getting at least one quad to work, have you guys?

SpaceyWilly
08-16-05, 11:11 PM
It seems like everyone has had at least some success, and even if NOTHING unlocks, it's a hell of an improvement over my 9600xt, and should still be able to handle BF2 on medium settings at 1280x1024, which my 9600 can't do smoothly. If everything unlocks though... wow. My 9600xt only get 4000 in 3dmark03, so I could be looking at a card that's 3x faster, and my 9600 is still worth about $80, so when all is said and done this is just an incredible deal.

g0dM@n
08-17-05, 01:17 PM
I don't know if most of you know this, but it comes as 8 pipelines. I have yet to see someone not get at least 12, and with 12 you ALREADY have yourself a great deal. Not only will it probably outperform a 9800xt when you unlock to 12 pipelines, but also you got yourself a kick-ass heatsink!

I love the heatsink this guy has. Hopefully I get mine by Friday, so I'll let yall know.

Please, whoever has gotten these or has on order let us know how yours unlocks, clocks, and performs. :)

Also, you're using the stock cooling, right? If so, did you replace the stock thermal paste?

thermal goop i replaced with as5
i took out the dinky little fan and slapped on a sanyo denki 60mm
i kept the shroud...it really helps the way it directs air over the fins and to the back of the card

here is the guide to unlocking and OC'ing http://www.doomedpc.com/drupal-4.5.2//?q=/node/9&PHPSESSID=37571ac17256de2103cb1fc0f831239a

Settings load at windows boot, you can use the nvidia control panel to OC if you like but rivatuner for the unlock. Permanent settings are possible by doing a BIOS change and reflashing, but IMO your playing with fire there. But either way it IS possible, check out the flashing guide int eh nvidia forum on this site for more info about doing this to the 68xx series cards and others.

Mine doesn't fully unlock, but I do get 12x1, 6vp. I have yet to overclock it. For the money these can't be beat.

Also price is now 125+ s/h. When i check since newegg added ups in addition to fedex ups is offer some free shipping options on ups ground slow. I got ups express for only 3.19.

I love newegg.

stock the card should beat a 98pro and ~ match a 6600gt.

Mine unlocked to 12x1 6vp. still working on overclocking it, currently at 350core 860mem.

g0dm@n i just got a leadtek a400le(6800le) for my buddy from a member here. it unlocks at 16p/6v and with a slight o/c. he's using the stock hsf. there's a couple of modded bios's that unlock all pipes and shaders. when you get yours let me know. i have a link where it gives you the step by step to unlock and enable the "disableinternalclocktesting".

from reading, the cards that don't unlock all the way to 16p/6v but unlock to 15p/5v need to use a bios that bumps the vcore to 1.4, this has solved this issue for most cards.

let me know if you need more info. with all the help you gave me on my nf7-s v2, its the least i can do.

Not to be mean, but I just wanted to correct you Beginner. You said 15p/5v, but that is incorrect. The card comes as 8 pipes (we'll call "P") and 4 vertex shaders (we'll call "V"). The maximum a 6800 can do is 16p and 6v. The pipes go by 4s (so 8, 12, or 16), and the vertex shaders go by 1s (4v, 5v, or 6v). I haven't seen anyone that couldn't hit 5v, so basically most people get either 5v or 6v. Very rare cards get stuck at 8p (like the 1st one I ordered), and most do 12p... the lucky guys get 16p, like your friend. I'm personally at 12p6v, and quite happy with it. The only issue was that I had to do the rivatuner registry hacks, like you said (disable internal clock, and a couple others actually), and then I was finally able to overclock it. Before I did all that I couldn't OC for poop.

Anyway, I already OCed mine and finished, meaning... I already flashed to a 1.4v bios long ago. Here (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=407902) is my thread. :D I already have mine at 1.4v on the stock cooler (changed thermal paste to AS5 and also remounted it a little tighter --huge help), and I'm running it at 425core and 950mem. The thing hit ~12,100 in 3dmark03. That's with 12 pipes baby. I can't imagine what 16 pipes woulda done. I already tried a 16 pipeline run with the artifacts just to see if I could get a score, but the computer crashed.

sorry g0dm@n but i meant 12p5v.

on your oc'ing thats cool :) my buddies card seems to be running great so far playing doom3.

do volts help at all with the unlocking pipes, my buddy wants to try a 1.5v bios if it is even legit that these cards bios will do it? how about a vddr mod? i got the card from madman22 here and my buddy can't believe it cause it was only $125 shipped all retail/accessories, he got a super good deal.

i'll read your thread cause i hope by the end of the year to buy one of these leadteks, maybe i'll buy yours :) when you decide to sell it.

1.5v is a lot... I would by iffy on doing that on the stock cooling, unless the stock cooling were lapped insanely.

I think that 1.4v is what an Ultra uses. Ever see the heatsinks on an Ultra? It's a lot thicker than the heatsink on the Leadtek, and that's probably for a reason. If you're going to push more volts than an ultra would, like 1.5v, I would make sure that you lap that heatsink.

Rumor has it that the 1.4v bios flash actually only gives the card about 1.3v, whereas 1.5v flash would give it 1.5v... so basically on our cards a jump from 1.4v bios to 1.5v is a bigger leap than from stock voltage to 1.4v.

1.2v bios to 1.4v bios is not as big of a jump as 1.4v bios to 1.5v bios... you're gonna create a lot of heat. (sorry for being repetitive, but I don't want you burning out your card).

I'm gonna try 1.5v maybe when I have the chance to lap my heatsink... I may even throw on a 60 or 80mm fan on the Leadtek. This card is fun to OC!

thanks for the info g0dm@n, my buddy is tearing it up on gaming with this card. halo2 looks a whole lot better on his pc.

he hasn't lapped the sink yet but he'll probably get to it soon. temps are good and he has plenty of airflow in an airconditioned family room.

i'll watch out for your posts when you try the 1.5v :)

this card is a real deal, bump so more members still on agp can get some performance and value.
