How much of a difference is there between running memory at 1:1 vs 5:4?

Is it better to lower your overall clock speed to run at 1:1 rather then a higher overall clock speed at 5:4??

Thanks

It depends how good your ram is at running tight at 5:4 vs looser at 1:1. Usually the highest overall clock speed will be faster, but your setup would have to be tested both ways to see.

I think one of the more important factors is what platform you are running the divider on. Different platforms respond much differently to running a divider.

I think he is running a P4 system, in which case I agree that the higher overclock is better. I've tested it in my P4C system, and 5:4 was faster than 1:1 in everything, with several hundred megahertz advantage of course.

That's the key, if you can run higher FSB and tighter timings, then the 5:4 ratio has no real disadvantage over the 1:1 ratio.
