Hi I am new to overclocking and I am unsure of whether I should overclock my cpu or not. Currently I have a 2.8c Northwood 800mhz FSB packed into a shuttle SB61G2R here is a link to the barebone

http://www.firingsquad.com/hw/353/Shuttle_SB61G2R_-_20th_Anniversary_Special_Edition/

also I have 1 gig of PC3200 ram and a 6800gt 8xAGP all running off the 220w psu. (Yes seems impossible but shuttle PSU's are extremely efficient)

Would it be possible to overclock this and run a stable system. I am mainly playing counterstike source which is mostly cpu intensive, and no matter what setting I have it on I recieve the same fps so I think my cpu might be holding the card back a bit(70-110fps)(big fight 30-50)

thanks for your time.

I'm not familiar with that mobo. The first thing to find out is whether there are BIOS adjustments that will allow overclocking. A lot of the small form factor mobos will not allow overclocking. Have you updated the vid card drivers lately and/or have tried overclocking the vid card?

Potentially a very overclockable machine. The bios has Vcore & Vdimm adjustments, 3 memory dividers, and 1mhz fsb steps up to 300mhz. See my sig for what my SB61G is doing. The thing that will hold you back is the stock PSU. Even so, assuming you have a decent 2.8c, you should be able to get well past 3ghz.

i have a Northwood 2.8 and I recently tried overclocking my video card with the help of one of my friends online, I have it a 403 core and 1.1 ghz memory clock.

I'd recommend setting the Smart Fan temperature quite a bit lower (for higher fan speeds) if you plan on OC'ing the Shuttle. If you go really extreme, I doubt the heatpipe heatsink will be able to keep up, and I don't think any aftermarket HSF's would work in a SFF. Keep an eye on those temps whatever you do...
