ok on my setup i have a werid probelm my surge protecter will trip and my pc and monitor and things i have on the strip will shutoff this happens randomly as i can tell and only started to do this in the last week and i havent added anything to it any ideas i am thinking the surge protecter is going bad so can you guys help :bang head

I would replace it..Just because it definatly sounds tired and potentially could harm P/C if it is defective.. (not protect you from a surge)

The other thing to consider is the power coming into it in the first place. Its summer and there are alot of brownouts and the like going on with everyone running their ac. Do you have problems with the power in the rest of the room? Lights dimming etc?

I agree with diehrd though, its alot to risk so safe bet is to replace the powerstrip. If you determine it is something else down the road you at least have a spare (cannot have too many of them!)

APC makes a power strip for about $10, I have them all over the house and they come with insurance in case a surge gets through.

how about power backups the big batteriy things would those make a better surge protector escpally against brown outs and no i dont think they are brownouts casue my router is connected to the same plug outlet on the wall

battery backup is a good idea. They also have surge protection built in.
